My client, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of petrochemicals is looking to hire an Area Scheduler for a major LDPE event on a contract basis at its Teesside manufacturing facility.

The purpose of the Area Scheduler is to assist the Lead Scheduler in the preparation, development, updating and reporting of the 2020 Logistics and LDPE Event Schedule.

Key Responsibilities


  • Utilise completed planning workpacks received to develop a logic linked, resource loaded and levelled schedule for executing the work in their given area. Schedules will be developed in-line with that of a Turnaround Event. Scheduler shall be comfortable working with activity detail to that of a Level 5 schedule.
  • Assist the Lead Scheduler in the establishment of the infrastructure within Primavera P6 to deliver the work. Including but not limited to:

Generate and supply activity codes

Generate and apply calendars for the event

Generate and apply schedule layouts to be utilised in the Event

Development of the Work Breakdown Structure

  • Carry out analysis of the schedule to:

Accurately forecast required resource to execute the work.

Identify Critical Path through the Event for their area.

Identify risks to delivering the baseline Event Schedule at the earliest opportunity to ensure mitigating action can be implemented.

Produce lookaheads as directed by the Lead Scheduler.

  • During the Event, produce daily reports as directed by the Lead Scheduler in-line with the event reporting timetable.
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure alignment to the event schedule.
  • Ensure Emergent Work is captured in the schedule in a timely manner, aligned to the Event Emergent Work Procedure.
  • Chair and drive schedule meetings as required.
  • Carryout tasks as directed by the Lead Scheduler/Event Manager.


  • Minimum 8 years-experience in a Planning/Scheduling role.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in the use of Primavera Scheduling Software (minimum 5 years).
  • Experience in the development of Level 5 Schedules in a major event.
  • Experience in using work packs and drawing to develop accurate schedules.
  • Experience in performing analysis of Schedule trends.
  • Experience in effective presorting to all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of SAP and its use during a major maintenance event.
  • Knowledge of computer software MS Office.
  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all project controls deliverables.
  • Ability to effectively discuss and correspond with engineering disciplines and/or contractors to ascertain and understand pertinent information concerning schedules, scope of work, estimate and costs.
