Wolviston Group are hiring a DCS engineer (distributed control system) working for our Client who operates on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis, across a diverse range of low and high hazard industries including power, gas, fuel storage & also in energy trading.

Our Client who has recently acquired the Saltend Chemicals Park  near Hull and as they continue to grow and expand, they are recruiting for the position of DCS Engineer to join and contribute to the team. Strategically positioned on the banks of the Humber – the gateway to Europe and the UK’s busiest ports complex – Saltend Chemicals Park, (SCP) is a location of world-scale manufacturing, operational excellence and innovative technology.

You’ll complete a range of hands on responsibilities to support the SCP in ensuring safety and availability of all DCS, Functional Safety, PI system historian plant systems to ensuring asset integrity and reliability is met, maintained and improved. Amongst other opportunities to contribute you’ll also be:

  • Completing programming, systems configuration and alarms management activities.
  • Provide technical training and guidance and developing and implementing procedures, instructions, standards and guidance documents enabling user operability and understanding, compliance, plant support, safety and security.
  • Compliance and maintenance and delivery of plant and systems.
  • Co-ordinate and provide input into assigned and cross-functional improvement and change projects and initiatives, contributing and leading resolution of appropriate engineering plant problems.
  • Be the central information point on assigned areas.
  • Ensure compliance with codal and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete assigned programming, systems configuration and alarms management.
  • Complete the role of ‘Project Manager’ for appropriate Revenue and Capital Projects.
  • Deliver reliable, effective spares management for assigned systems and processes.
  • Develop and implement engineering procedures, instructions, standards, guidance documents to enable user
  • operability and understanding, compliance, plant support, safety and security.
  • Assist in providing compliant, functional design specifications on new plant developments or projects.

A HNC in electrical, control or instrumentation engineering discipline or equivalent qualification is required along with ;

  • Relevant 24/7 process, chemical, energy or manufacturing industry experience, in DCS Systems and functional safety.
  • Legislative, best practice standards & insurance compliance in DCS systems & functional safety.
  • Working cross functionally delivering policies, initiatives & compliance with company & legislative requirements.
  • Appreciation of engineering standards and codes: IEC 61508/61511; Electricity At Work. Maintenance management systems.
