A vacancy has arisen for the position of EC&I Engineer, working for our client who operates some of the UK’s most potentially hazardous energy, processing and storage facilities, running  power stations, gas processing plants and fuel storage depots.

The EC&I Engineer will provide professional engineering support to my Clients operated sites both in the UK, offshore and overseas ensuring asset integrity and reliability is maintained in a manner consistent with delivering customer requirements. In addition to support the development of proposals for new business opportunities, provision of consultancy, project and outage management along with;

  • Manage improvement/change projects;
  • Provide technical support to maintenance and operational staff;
  • Solve engineering plant problems outside the capability of the site maintenance team;
  • Support cross functional improvement processes;
  • Perform technical training;
  • Develop and implement engineering procedures, instructions, standards, guidance documents;
  • Set and champion engineering standards across sites where appropriate;
  • Ensure compliance with codal and regulatory requirements;
  • Assist in providing functional design specifications on any new plant developments or projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
  • Play an active role in plant safety schemes such as Near Hits or Incident Investigations, providing support where required and actively implement any recommendations arising from those schemes.
  • Act as Outage Manager, as required, for any planned or unscheduled shutdowns, to ensure all aspects of EC&I work are completed to programme, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Establish strong, effective relationships with all members of the OMST Team and its key customers – internal and external.
  • Undertake assigned audits, in line with both internal & external compliance requirements, communicating outcomes, supporting & driving actions.

The ideal candidate will hold a NVQ level 3, e.g. Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in a related subject i.e. Engineering, electrical, electronic or control & instrumentation, and also have the following experience;

  • Maintenance & contract management
  • Outage / shutdown management
  • Operations interface, policies & procedure
  • Relevant experience in the process or power generation environment
  • Relevant experience in successful people management, motivation and development
  • Working cross functionally delivering policies, initiatives & compliance with company & legislative requirements
  • Appreciation of engineering standards and codes

Knowledge & application of the following is preferred; SHE systems, ensuring compliance, risk & improvement, Quality systems, ensuring compliance, risk & improvement ,Maintenance management systems,  Legislation pertinent to EC&I systems & standards, Electricity at Work Regulations, Control systems.
