Wolviston have an opportunity for experienced Maintenance First Line Manager/Supervisor with the ability to lead a team of maintenance Control Technicians supporting our clients manufacturing plant in Dumfries.

You will be a strong people person and team leader with the ability to build and support your team’s capabilities. You will possess excellent communication skills, in addition to your technical skills, to communicate effectively across site functions.

Reporting to the Site Maintenance Manager, in this important day role your responsibilities will include safe delivery of plant maintenance requirements 24/7 through management & supervision of a maintenance team including contractors, delivery of continuous improvements to drive increased performance, and utilisation of maintenance planning systems. You will also lead on small capital projects to upgrade and improve equipment performance.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship and suitable engineering qualification (minimum HNC) in mechanical or control/electrical engineering.
  • Previous maintenance management & supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred or the right candidate looking for the next step in their career.
  • Ability to lead and develop maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability through effective coaching and leadership skills.
  • An understanding and working knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office).
  • An understanding and experience of modern maintenance strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to support and drive continuous improvement across the maintenance team.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations for chemical and machinery manufacturing plant equipment.
  • Broad technical knowledge of chemical and manufacturing plant equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate equipment upgrade projects.
  • Ability to work and communicate in a team, and to interface effectively with a broad section of personnel both internal and external to the company.
  • Ability to organise and lead a team to complete planned maintenance activities.
  • Adaptable and flexible to support on site outside of normal working hours when required.

Required Experience

  • Working knowledge of PLC systems , Siemens S7 / Allen Bradley required .
  • Operation and integration of SCADA systems
  • Control instrumentation and systems associated with process control
  • Understanding of 3 phase AC distribution
  • Variable speed drive experience – both AC and DC
  • Understanding of statutory electrical tests and inspections
