Wolviston hasa fantastic new and exciting opportunity for a Snr Research Technician or a Research Technician ready to progress into a Snr role.

You will be an operator of a new, exciting, open access liquid scale-up rig instrumented with novel process analytical tools and be responsible for running the liquid process scale-up rig and ensuring the equipment is ready, available and safe for use at all times. Contributing  to research projects, discussing  project needs, plan and execute experiments and report results to support the delivery of key innovation projects.

Educated to at least A level (or equivalent) in Chemistry with Industrial experience in one of the formulation sectors would be advantageous as well as significant, demonstrated practical experience in liquid processing.

Based in Sedgefield you will spend your first 18months working out of Birmingham University.

Our Client is a UK based technology innovation centre and the process arm of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult. Established to support the UK process manufacturing industry. Our Client collaborates with universities, SMEs and large corporates to help overcome innovation challenges and develop next generation products and processes. Operating across a broad range of technologies, supporting their partners at every step of the way; from concept to market; business support to technology development; from scale up to supply chain intervention.

Duties of the role include:

  • To maintain consistent and documented compliance with all relevant Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE), quality and best practice requirements.
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the liquid process scale-up rig, including set-up, operation, troubleshooting and cleaning of the equipment.
  • To be responsible for providing clearly documented records of technical data, decisions, methodologies, calculations and software use in an agreed format.
  • To be responsible for applying a range of analytical and measurement techniques to characterise and determine material properties.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of equipment to ensure it operates in a safe and efficient manner and is available to meet customer needs.
  • To be responsible for purchasing consumables and spare parts and carrying out or arranging for others to carry out maintenance.
